With its advanced research institutes, large hospitals and specialised bio-tech and med-tech companies, French-speaking Switzerland is a major hub for the life sciences. The magazine In Vivo covers news related to the life sciences through special reports, profiles and original infographics. LargeNetwork produces both text and images for the magazine, which also focuses on the politics of health and the ethical aspects of modern medicine. It is published in two versions, English and French. The articles are fully illustrated and presented in a compact format. Co-published with the Lausanne University Hospital, the magazine is complemented by the infographic supplement In Extenso.

In 2014, In Vivo received two prestigious awards. In October, it earned the “Special Jury Prize” a the SVIK Awards (Schweizerischer Verband für interne Kommunikation, or Swiss Association of Internal Communication). Every year, a professional jury rewards the best business publications. “In Vivo managed to present health issues in a journalistic way,” said the jury president. “That’s exactly how a large institution should share information with the public.”

In December, the magazine earned first place in the “External Publication” category at the European Excellence Awards ceremony held in Paris. Awards are granted by a professional jury who reviews the most compelling work in the field of communications and public relations in Europe.

Also, the infographic supplement In Extenso, which is distributed with In Vivo, was the “jury’s favorite” in the Suva media competition 2014.

In October of 2015, Melinda Marchese, the editorial manager for In Vivo, received the SUVA media prize in the press category for her article, “The intestine, another brain”, which appeared in the March 2015 magazine.
